BURNOUT
Feeling like things are becoming too much
for you lately? Perhaps you're irritable and feel unappreciated,
overworked and just need a break? You might be experiencing the symptoms
of "burnout," a common phenomenon that affects just about everyone, if they
don't take time to "smell the roses." We've put a few categories
here, but that doesn't mean burnout is the exclusive domain of people in those
professions. Anyone can experience burnout. If you're a parent, you
certainly can feel the heavy burden of burnout. What can you do about it?
You're probably saying to yourself that Dr. Farrell really doesn't
understand, she's never been there. It's my job, my home, my spouse, my
income, my mortgage and it's all coming down on my head at once. Yes,
I do understand because I'm in a group of the prime professions for burnout--the
helping professions.
