SUICIDE HOTLINES AND INFORMATION
Suicide is the
eleventh leading cause of death in the U.S. with almost 33k deaths per year and
for every suicide-related death, there are approximately 25 attempts. It
is a serious, preventable mental health issue which affects both young and old
and children as young as 6 have either attempted or committed suicide.
What are the factors which lead people to consider suicide? The most
prevalent are depression, substance abuse, stressful life events, family
violence, incarceration and exposure to others who have exhibited suicidal
behavior.
